Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Joiner / Multi Skilled Operative (Home Adaptations) to assess residents' homes and plan/install minor adaptation schemes. The role supports independent living with falls prevention equipment and workshop activities, across Nottingham.

You will work in resident homes, coordinate with Occupational Therapy, and travel by Council vehicle to sites. The role requires experience in adaptations or similar trades, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Experience of making, preparing, installing, repairing or maintaining adaptations within domestic settings.
• Ability to plan, install and maintain home adaptations and falls prevention equipment.
• Strong health and safety knowledge when handling tools and materials.
• Valid UK driving licence and ability to drive a Council vehicle for visits.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload, materials and routes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out environmental and person-centred risk assessments in residents' homes.
• Plan and install home adaptations and falls prevention equipment.
• Remove trip hazards and undertake practical works to reduce risks.
• Prepare and modify handrails and components in a workshop.
• Provide home safety and falls prevention advice to residents.
• Liaise with Occupational Therapy and partner agencies as needed.
• Manage stock, tools, and equipment with safe storage and transport.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor contractor works for quality and value.
• Drive a Council vehicle to undertake visits and installations.
