Job summary

St Martin's School, part of Discovery Educational Trust, is seeking a dedicated SEND support colleague to identify, assess and monitor pupils with SEND. You will deliver targeted interventions, work with teachers to implement provision across the curriculum and contribute to planning EHCP-related support.

You will liaise with families and external professionals, maintain confidential records, and participate in safeguarding and CPD activities to promote high educational outcomes for all learners.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Job description

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to implement effective strategies and provision that meet individual pupil needs across the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of One Plans, SEND Support Plans and EHCP provision.
  • Liaise effectively with parents/carers, staff and external professionals to promote positive outcomes for pupils.
  • Supervise and manage the SEND Hub, maintaining a purposeful learning environment and accurate, confidential SEND records.
  • Attend SEND team meetings and contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of SEND provision across the school, Discovery Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding our pupils against radicalisation and extremism and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

St Martin's School is a large co-educational comprehensive school located in Hutton, Brentwood. The school benefits from a pleasant semi-rural environment with agricultural land to the rear. The school, which also includes a large sixth form block, is situated on an open, attractive 30 acre site. Parking is available on-site and there are good transport links by both rail and bus. Hutton is five miles from the M25 and 19 miles from London, which is easily reached by road or train (25 minutes to Liverpool Street Station).

This is a large, but friendly school in which all staff are helped to develop their talents. This is supported by an extensive and wide ranging in-house continual professional development programme (CPD). We have high quality mentoring and induction programmes for staff with excellent opportunities for training and professional development. 2025 - 74.9% of students achieved grades 9-4 in GCSE English Literature and 74.8% in GCSE English Language and 78.1% of students achieved grades 9-4 in Mathematics 2024 - 77.5% of students achieved 9 - 4 in GCSE English Literature and 79.5% in GCSE English Language and 79.9% of students achieved 9 - 4 in Mathematics - Over Subscribed - 1184 applications for 292 year 7 places in 2023 - Ofsted 2024 - Good with outstanding leadership
