Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a confident Maths Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Kettering. You will deliver pre-planned Maths activities, support learners across KS3/KS4, and lead targeted interventions to boost confidence in Maths.

The role requires strong maths knowledge, prior support of secondary learners, and the ability to engage groups with clear explanations and positive classroom management. An HLTA qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, ideally GCSE level or above.
• Experience supporting learning in a secondary school.
• Ability to lead groups and deliver pre-planned activities.

Responsibilities

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a confident and enthusiastic Maths Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a welcoming secondary school in Kettering. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in Mathematics who enjoys supporting young people to achieve their potential. You will play an important role in the classroom, delivering targeted Maths support, leading learning activities and helping students build confidence in the subject.

The Role

• Deliver pre-planned Maths lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4.
• Lead small-group interventions to improve students' understanding and progress in Mathematics.
• Provide targeted support to students preparing for GCSE Maths.
• Work with individuals and groups to address gaps in knowledge and build confidence.
• Support classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to monitor student progress.
• Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of different learners.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has a strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, ideally to GCSE level or above.
• Has previous experience supporting teaching and learning within a secondary school.
• Is confident leading groups of students and delivering pre-planned learning activities.
• Can explain mathematical concepts clearly and engage students in their learning.
• Has strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Is patient, approachable and passionate about helping young people succeed.
• An HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
