Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a confident Maths Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a welcoming secondary school in Kettering. You will deliver targeted Maths support, lead learning activities and help students build confidence in the subject.

The role requires strong Maths knowledge, classroom management, and experience in a secondary setting. An HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable, with routes to longer-term opportunities in the local schools network.

Qualifications

• Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics to GCSE level or above.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning in a secondary school.
• Ability to lead groups and deliver pre-planned learning activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned Maths lessons and activities in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support KS3 and KS4 learning and progress in Mathematics.
• Lead small-group interventions to improve understanding and progress.
• Support GCSE Maths preparation and pupil confidence.
• Work with individuals and groups to address gaps in knowledge.
• Support classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse learner needs.

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a confident and enthusiastic Maths Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a welcoming secondary school in Kettering.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in Mathematics who enjoys supporting young people to achieve their potential. You will play an important role in the classroom, delivering targeted Maths support, leading learning activities and helping students build confidence in the subject.

The Role

As a Maths HLTA, you will:

• Deliver pre-planned Maths lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.

• Support teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4.

• Lead small-group interventions to improve students' understanding and progress in Mathematics.

• Provide targeted support to students preparing for GCSE Maths.

• Work with individuals and groups to address gaps in knowledge and build confidence.

• Support classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.

• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to monitor student progress.

• Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of different learners.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, ideally to GCSE level or above.

• Has previous experience supporting teaching and learning within a secondary school.

• Is confident leading groups of students and delivering pre-planned learning activities.

• Can explain mathematical concepts clearly and engage students in their learning.

• Has strong classroom management and communication skills.

• Is patient, approachable and passionate about helping young people succeed.

An HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable. We would also welcome applications from experienced Maths Teaching Assistants who are ready to take the next step in their career.
