Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Bristol is seeking qualified HLTA candidates for day-to-day, short- and long-term roles starting September 2026. The successful HLTA will lead lessons, support teachers and provide targeted support to pupils in secondary settings.

You should hold an HLTA qualification or recognised higher-level teaching qualification, have UK secondary school experience, strong classroom management, and be available across Bristol from September 2026.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or recognised higher-level teaching qualification.
• Experience in a UK secondary school.
• Confident leading lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
• Available for opportunities across Bristol from September 2026.
• Experience supporting students with a range of abilities and needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and follow school schemes of work.
• Support teachers with classroom activities and resources.
• Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups.
• Manage classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Support students with their learning and development.
• Work with students with a range of abilities and additional needs.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and school leaders.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies.
