Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking qualified HLTA professionals to join our Bristol pool from September 2026. We welcome day-to-day, long-term and permanent opportunities across Bristol.

HLTA candidates with strong secondary school experience, classroom management skills and the appropriate qualifications are encouraged to apply. Tradewind provide dedicated consultants to support registration and placements for the new academic year.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or recognised higher-level teaching qualification.
• Experience in UK secondary schools.
• Ability to lead lessons and manage classroom behaviour.
• Availability across Bristol from September 2026.
• Experience supporting students with a range of abilities and needs.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and following school schemes of work.
• Supporting teachers with classroom activities and resources.
• Providing targeted support to individuals and small groups.
• Managing classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Supporting students with their learning and development.
• Working with students with a range of abilities and additional needs.
• Maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Communicating effectively with teachers and school leaders.
• Following safeguarding and school policies.
