Job summary

Windwhistle Primary School in Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and ambitious team. You will deliver learning activities, support pupils with SEND, monitor progress and work with teachers to ensure inclusive learning and positive behaviour.

The role is 24 hours per week, term-time only, fixed term until 31 August 2027 with potential extension subject to funding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years' experience working within a school environment.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
• Ability to lead learning activities and support whole-class teaching.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs (SEND).
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under guidance of teaching staff.
• Supervise classes during teacher absence and support continuity of learning.
• Work closely with teachers to plan, adapt and deliver learning interventions.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, independence and inclusion.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents and external agencies to achieve best outcomes.
