Job summary

Byron Wood Academy is seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team in Sheffield. The role supports teaching and learning, providing targeted intervention to help pupils reach their potential.

The post is 37 hours per week, term-time only, and permanent, with a pro rata salary of £25,907 - £27,665. We are looking for a qualified HLTA or experienced TA with strong understanding of the primary curriculum and the ability to lead learning confidently.

Qualifications

  • A qualified HLTA or experienced teaching assistant with a strong primary curriculum knowledge.
  • Ability to lead learning confidently and manage whole-class situations.
  • Proactive, flexible approach with strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Commitment to inclusion and safeguarding across the school.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes when a teacher is absent.
  • Support planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
  • Provide targeted intervention and monitor pupil progress with feedback.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support a calm learning environment.
  • Adapt activities to meet diverse needs including SEND.
  • Support enrichment and wider school activities as required.
