Job description

Are you an experienced HLTA looking for a new challenging role in Enfield? Or are you a skilled Teaching Assistant ready to step up into a Higher Level Teaching Assistant position in SEMH education?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to join specialist SEMH schools in Enfield. Full and part time positions available starting in September 2025.

As a HLTA you will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering lessons to small groups of SEMH students across KS3-4
• Leading classes independently in the absence of the class teacher
• Implementing and monitoring Individual Behaviour Plans and therapeutic interventions
• Supporting students with emotional regulation and de-escalation techniques
• Assessing student progress and providing detailed feedback to teachers and senior staff
• Mentoring and supporting Teaching Assistants and students on placement
• Contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings with therapists, social workers and external agencies
• Supporting with transitions, educational visits and enrichment activities
• Maintaining detailed records and contributing to safeguarding procedures

To join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning
• Significant experience working with children/young people with SEMH needs
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches
• Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong communication skills for liaising with parents, carers and external professionals
• Experience of planning and delivering lessons independently
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to child protection
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure on the Update Service
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK

Daily rates: 110- 130 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

PAYE paid weekly
