Job summary

Smile Education is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support primary schools across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas. The role offers flexibility with supply, PPA cover, and long-term placements, starting from £110 per day PAYE.

The successful HLTA will have UK-recognised Level 4 qualification (or HLTA status) and be confident delivering pre-planned lessons, supervising classes, and supporting learners across EYFS to KS2.

Qualifications

• UK-recognised Level 4 qualification or HLTA status.
• Minimum UK Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification with HLTA experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide PPA cover by delivering planned lessons.
• Lead whole-class learning activities across primary year groups.
• Run small-group interventions for literacy and numeracy.
• Provide SEN support and adapt activities.
• Support flexible supply days and long-term placements.
• Collaborate with teachers to support pupil outcomes.
