Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support primary schools in Bradford. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, cover classrooms, and support KS1/KS2 learners with engaging activities. DBS Update Service is required, and prior HLTA-level experience is preferred.

Role offers part-time, on-site work with varied day-to-day and short-term placements. You will work with teachers and support staff to build confidence and progress for pupils with inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or relevant HLTA-level experience.
• Minimum 6 months' primary school experience.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Confident supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and confident leading learning activities independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide whole-class cover in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with their learning and development.
• Lead small group interventions and provide targeted support to pupils.
• Support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
• Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and follow school policies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants and other school staff.
• Adapt to different school settings, routines and expectations.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and academic progress.

Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who are confident supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2, delivering engaging learning activities and providing classroom cover when required.

The Successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant Will:

• Hold a recognised HLTA qualification/status or have relevant experience working at HLTA level.
• Have a minimum of 6 months' experience working in a primary school setting.
• Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Be confident supporting pupils across KS1 and/or KS2.
