Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are supporting a three-form entry Primary in Blackpool to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant from September 2026. This temporary term-time role offers the chance to develop responsibility and make a real impact on student learning.

You will deliver and evaluate learning activities, contribute to IEPs, monitor progress, lead interventions and cover PPA. The ideal candidate holds a Level 3/4 qualification (HLTA desirable) and HLTA status or is willing to work towards

Qualifications

  • Level 3/4 teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in a school setting.
  • HLTA status or willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Strong planning, assessment and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and evaluate learning activities for individuals and groups under teacher direction.
  • Contribute to IEPs and support plans.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback for pupil progress reviews.
  • Lead learning activities or interventions adapting resources for diverse needs.
  • Cover classes during short periods (PPA) and support staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an inclusive environment.
  • Support and guide other teaching assistants.
  • Liaise with parents under teacher direction.
  • Contribute to wider life of the school.

Join Our Dedicated Team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant from September 2026!Are you an experienced and highly skilled Teaching Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity to take on more responsibility and make a significant impact on student learning?We have a three form entry Primary in Blackpool seeking a motivated and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your expertise and contribute to raising standards across the school. This role is temporary term time, working hours offer 5 days work per week between Monday - Friday 8:30-3:30 from September - December 2026. Pay is £14.50-£16 per hour. This role is open to any ECT's and HLTA's who are seeking classroom management experience across the school. The school has close motorway links, parking and a bus route outside.About the Role:As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers to support the learning and development of our students. Your key responsibilities will include:Delivering, and evaluating learning activities for individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes, under the direction of the teacher.Contributing to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support plans.Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to pupil progress reviews.Leading specific learning activities or interventions, adapting resources and strategies to meet diverse needs.Covering classes for short periods in the absence of the teacher (PPA cover, training, etc.).Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.Providing guidance and support to other Teaching Assistants.Liaising with parents and carers under the direction of the teacher.Contributing to the wider life of the school.About You:We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Teaching Assistant who:Holds a relevant Level 3 or 4 qualification (or equivalent experience).Has significant experience working in a school setting.Possesses HLTA status (or is willing to work towards it).Has a strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies.Is confident in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.Has strong assessment and record-keeping skills.Why Join Tradewind?Your success and well-being are at the heart of what we do.
