Job summary

Elementa Support Services is seeking a resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join partner schools across Rhondda Cynon Taf. You will lead pre-planned lessons in teachers' absence, support inclusive learning, and work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment.

A strong classroom presence, safeguarding focus, and ALN/SEND experience are essential, with ongoing CPD and supportive schools.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or substantial HLTA-like experience in schools.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning in UK primary/secondary settings.
• Excellent classroom management and clear communication.
• EWC registration or willingness to obtain it; DBS under Update Service or willing to apply.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-planned lessons when teachers are absent.
• Support engaging, inclusive learning across the classroom.
• Work with individuals and small groups to boost confidence and achievement.
• Support pupils with ALN/SEND to reach their potential.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding; engage in school life with leadership.

What you'll be doing

No two days are the same, but you'll be:

• Leading pre-planned lessons when teachers are absent
• Supporting engaging, inclusive learning across the classroom
• Working with individuals and small groups to boost confidence and achievement
• Supporting pupils with ALN/SEND to reach their full potential
• Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
• Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding
• Playing an active role in school life alongside teachers and leadership teams

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have:

• HLTA status or substantial experience in a similar role
• UK school-based experience supporting teaching and learning
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Confidence leading whole-class learning
• EWC registration (or be happy to obtain it)
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (we can help)

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience across KS1-KS4
• Experience supporting pupils with ALN/SEND
• A flexible, proactive approach and a great sense of teamwork
