Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in Hampstead is seeking a Band 6 Research Biomedical Scientist (Histology) to lead amyloid histopathology and immunohistochemistry investigations within the Amyloidosis Research and Diagnosis Laboratory Team.

You will work independently to process samples, train junior staff, troubleshoot techniques, and ensure high quality, compliant results in a busy NHS laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• Familiar with COSHH and health and safety regulations in a biomedical/life sciences environment.
• HCPC registration and IBMS membership.
• NHS laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient samples independently to ensure efficient throughput.
• Train and supervise new and junior staff in relevant techniques to ensure competency.
• Perform complex manual, semi-automated and automated histology investigations including amyloid typing and IHC.
• Maintain clear records and ensure quality assurance across workflows.
