Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Biomedical Scientist (Histology Research Technician) to join the Amyloidosis Research and Diagnosis Laboratory Team in London. The postholder will perform complex histology workflows, including amyloid histopathology and immunohistochemistry, and will train junior staff to ensure competency.

The role requires independent work, good communication, and robust organisational skills to support high-quality laboratory investigations for patient care.

Qualifications

• Degree in biomedical science or equivalent and HCPC registration.
• Experience in histology and IHC techniques relevant to amyloid work.
• Ability to train and supervise junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex manual, semi-automated and automated histology investigations.
• Carry out amyloid histopathology and immunohistochemistry to support diagnosis and research.
• Train and supervise new and junior staff to maintain competency and efficiency.
