Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Hire Desk Controller for its Castleford depot in West Yorkshire. The role calls for a background in plant hire (telehandlers preferred) and a customer-focused approach to manage bookings, quotations and equipment availability.

Qualifications

• Prev. plant hire / material handling experience required.
• Experience coordinating bookings and handling customer enquiries.
• Understanding of hire contracts, equipment availability, deliveries and off-hires.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Proactive and reliable with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming customer enquiries by telephone and email.

Job Title: Hire Desk Controller

Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire

Salary: upto 35,000 per annum

We are recruiting for an experienced Hire Desk Controller to join its team at the Castleford depot. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in plant hire, particularly telehandlers, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Daily responsibilities:

• Managing incoming customer enquiries by telephone and email.
• Providing quotations and advising on equipment availability.
• Coordinating plant and telehandler hire bookings, ensuring the correct equipment is allocated to each job.
• Arranging equipment deliveries, collections and off-hires, liaising with transport teams and customers.
• Monitoring hire contracts, extensions and returns to ensure accurate records are maintained.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Working closely with the depot team, drivers and operational staff to ensure the smooth running of daily hire activities.
• Ensuring hire paperwork, contracts and system records are completed accurately and kept up to date.
• Resolving customer queries and dealing with any hire-related issues promptly and professionally.
• Supporting the wider depot team to maintain high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.

Experience you will need:

• Previous experience in a plant hire / Material handling environment is essential.
• Experience working on a hire desk, coordinating bookings and managing customer enquiries.
• A good understanding of hire contracts, equipment availability, deliveries, collections and off-hires.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
• A proactive, reliable approach, with good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.

Package:

• Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm
• 23 days' annual holiday, plus bank holidays.
• One-week Christmas shutdown.
