Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a motivated Network Services Assistant Engineer to help design, deliver and manage highway, transport, parking and traffic signal schemes across the borough. The role emphasises highways and urban transport with hybrid working options.

You will support UTMC systems, traffic signals, SCOOT, RTPI, bus priority and CCTV, supervise technicians, prepare reports and liaise with elected members and the public.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering qualification (ONC/HNC/ Degree) and knowledge of network management.
• Understanding of traffic and urban transport legislation and related issues.
• Experience with traffic signal maintenance and UTMC is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, delivery and supervision of highway and traffic schemes.
• Project manage schemes, monitor budgets and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Prepare reports and liaise with councillors, the public and stakeholders.
• Supervise Network Services Technicians and deputise for senior colleagues when required.
