Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor to oversee highways, civil engineering and maintenance projects across North Yorkshire. You will manage staff, subcontractors and resources to deliver work safely, on time and within budget.

The role requires coordinating with stakeholders, maintaining records, and participating in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, including nights and weekends. A strong safety and quality focus is essential.

Qualifications

• SMSTS qualification is essential.
• CSCS Managers Card held.
• First Aid at Work certification.
• MAP Health, Safety & Environment Test completed.
• Level 6 NVQ/ HNC/HND in Construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day delivery of highways, civil engineering, construction and maintenance works.
• Manage work programmes to deliver projects on time, within budget and to spec.
• Oversee operatives and subcontractors with safe working practices.
• Carry out site inspections, safety checks, inductions and daily briefings.
• Develop and maintain health and safety plans, identify risks and implement controls.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and equipment for efficient delivery.
• Monitor costs, record progress and ensure timely valuations.
• Maintain accurate records and reporting for audits.
• Liaise with partner organisations and project managers with progress updates.
• Line-manage and mentor operational staff, support performance reviews.
• Participate in emergency call-out rota.
