Job summary

CarmichaelUK in North London is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our highways and civil engineering delivery team. You will play a key role in ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme and specifications.

The role focuses on highways schemes, drainage, earthworks and utility diversions, coordinating subcontractors and maintaining records, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Engineer in civil/highways sector.
• Significant highways infrastructure delivery experience.
• Experience with road construction, drainage, earthworks, utility diversions, kerbing, pavements.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and technical docs.
• Knowledge of highways standards, specs and quality requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of highways schemes including carriageways and drainage.
• Manage subcontractors per drawings and project requirements.
• Maintain site records, quality docs and project reporting.
• Conduct quality inspections per contractual standards.
• Assist with temporary works, permits and traffic management.
• Identify and resolve on-site engineering issues.
• Collaborate with Site Managers, Project Managers and client reps.
• Monitor progress against programme and assist planning.
• Ensure HSE and quality standards are maintained.
• Contribute to delivery within budget and programme limits.
