Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Highway Inspector (Road Safety & Customer Engagement) to undertake statutory highway safety inspections and engage with stakeholders across the public interface. The role is paid at £35 per hour Umbrella company model, Inside IR35, on a 6-month contract.

Key duties include inspecting carriageways and assets, recording defects, managing customer enquiries, and supporting asset management and reporting. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway safety inspections.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders and the public.
• Proven record-keeping for inspections.
• Understanding of legislation and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

• Undertake planned, cyclical, and ad hoc road safety inspections of the highway network and inspect assets.
• Identify and risk assess defects and raise works orders to ensure timely progression.
• Maintain accurate inspection records to support statutory defence and liability claims.
• Monitor works to ensure compliance with standards and specifications; initiate remedial actions where needed.
• Act as a primary point of contact for highway-related enquiries within a defined area; respond to complaints and enquiries.
• Support development of maintenance programmes, input inspection data, and provide evidence for legal proceedings and audits.
