Job summary

4Recruitment Services is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector for Oxfordshire, offering hybrid working (2–3 days in the office). You will conduct highway safety inspections, identify defects, and report findings to support maintenance and safety objectives.

A full driving licence and willingness to travel across Oxfordshire are required. The role emphasizes strong customer service and stakeholder engagement, with responsible handling of enquiries and records.

Qualifications

Experience in highway safety inspections.
Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 58.
Knowledge of the Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure Code of Practice.
Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement.
Ability to assess risk and prioritise workload.
Competence in inspection systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

Carrying out planned and ad hoc highway safety inspections.
Identifying, assessing and reporting defects.
Monitoring highway works and ensuring compliance with standards.
Managing customer enquiries, complaints and stakeholder communications.
Maintaining accurate inspection records and supporting claims and legal requirements.
Contributing to maintenance programmes and continuous service improvement.
