Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Highway Inspector (Road Safety & Customer Engagement) for a 6-month contract in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on statutory inspections, risk assessment and timely defect resolution to keep the highway network safe and compliant.

Responsibilities

• Highway Safety Inspections – undertake planned, cyclical and ad hoc inspections of carriageways, footways and assets.
• Identify, risk assess and categorise defects per policy and codes of practice.
• Raise works orders and ensure defects progress within set timescales.
• Maintain inspection records to support statutory defence and liability claims.
• Undertake follow-up inspections and quality checks on completed works.
• Monitor works to ensure compliance with standards and specifications; initiate remedial action when needed.
• Serve as primary point of contact for highway-related enquiries within a defined area; respond to complaints and councillor inquiries.
• Input inspection data into corporate systems (e.g. Symology/Insight or equivalent) and provide data for reports and audits.
• Support continuous improvement of inspection processes and service delivery.
