Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places, part of a national civil engineering group, is seeking a Highways Operative in Lincolnshire. The role involves maintaining and improving the local highway network, drainage and footway works, and other civil duties within a safety-conscious team.

You will join a dedicated team delivering essential infrastructure services, with opportunities for overtime and shifts. The position offers hands-on work across varied projects and a strong emphasis on safety and customer

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a broad range of highway maintenance activities safely and to a high standard.
• Undertake drainage works, kerb laying, footway improvements, vegetation clearance and asphalt repairs.
• Perform excavation and trenching work with required equipment.
• Maintain safety culture and report safety observations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company procedures.
• Operate and maintain plant, tools and equipment safely.
• Monitor materials and resources to support project delivery.
• Follow work programmes and complete tasks right first time.
• Support winter maintenance and emergency response activities, including out-of-hours work.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
• Act as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty.
