Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative for our UKCS Scotland team, based in Dalston, Carlisle. This outdoor role focuses on repairing and maintaining the local highway network, including drainage and winter operations, with emphasis on safety and public service.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Category C licence (Class 2).
• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Experience in highway maintenance environment is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out highway repairs and general maintenance activities.
• Carrying out minor civil engineering works, including kerbing and drainage.
• Cleansing and jetting highway drainage systems and road gullies.
• Supporting winter maintenance by driving an HGV gritter.
• Installing and maintaining traffic management systems.
• Supporting the emergency response team when required.
• Completing and submitting operational paperwork.
• Following health and safety policies and procedures.
