Ringway is seeking a general highway maintenance operative to carry out a broad range of routine works. The role involves responding to emergencies, taking on out-of-hours call outs, and assisting with winter maintenance as a second man or driver’s mate.

Apprentices who completed training are included in the team. Candidates should have 12+ months of experience, a current driving licence, and be prepared to work varying hours and develop additional qualifications.

Formación

• Able to follow specifications and carry out assigned works.
• Typically 12+ months in a related role.
• Potential to obtain LGV licence in future.
• Training in health & safety awareness, risk assessment, traffic management, PDA use.
• Able to operate small plant and equipment and mini excavator.
• Team player; adaptable to changing teams and jobs.
• Willing to develop and undertake relevant training and qualifications.
• Capable of completing record sheets (paper/electronic).
• Responsible for plant/equipment and own safety and others' safety.
• Able to use own initiative and respond to emergencies, including winter call outs.

Descripción del empleo

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training

• Banksman
• Manual Handling
• Abrasive Wheels
• Emergency First Aid
• Safe Dig
• Current Driving License
• CSCS card if client requirement
• Minimum level of every day behaviour as set out in the company behaviours matrix

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator

• Team player, prepared to contribute and participate fully in team work
• Prepared to work varying hours to meet the needs of the business
• Willingness to apply skills to a variety of different highways jobs, with changing team members
• Prepared to develop and undertake relevant training and qualifications

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

Hours: Full Time - 40 - Monday to Friday
