Job summary

Amey is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team at the Gailey depot. The role is on-site with a standard 40-hour week (Mon–Fri) and involves highway maintenance tasks across the county, in partnership with Staffordshire County Council.

You will work with a skilled team, attend briefings, and participate in standby rotations for incident response and winter services. We welcome diverse applicants and offer development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive driving/operating instructions for vehicles and plant equipment.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations for incident response and winter maintenance.
• Allocate and track time and resources using the allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and communicate with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services and clients.
