Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Highway Maintenance Operative to join our Transportation Team in Area 4 depots. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining our highway network and ensuring safe, efficient operations across the area.

You will operate light plant machinery, assist with kerbing, drainage, paving, surfacing, and repair works, and perform general site duties while working with your team to deliver essential maintenance services.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway maintenance or similar field.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Operating light plant machinery such as compressors, rollers, and disc cutters, including daily maintenance checks.
• Assisting skilled operatives with kerbing, drainage, paving, surfacing, and repair works.
• Excavating soil, rock, asphalt, and concrete using hand and powered tools.
• Performing general site duties including sweeping, cleaning, litter picking, and handling materials.
• Carrying out duties such as grass cutting, gully emptying, strimming and traffic management
