Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places in Telford is recruiting a Winter Maintenance Driver to keep the local highway network safe during the winter months. You will operate assigned winter routes, salt and grit roads, and support snow clearance as required.

This rota-based role requires a valid Class 2 HGV licence, Driver CPC, a tachograph card, and a strong commitment to health and safety. You will work with a standby rota and follow all safety and operational procedures at the depot.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 2 HGV licence.
• Driver CPC qualification required.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Reliable and responsible approach to work.
• Ability to work a rota-based pattern and standby rota.
• Ability to work independently while following routes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of winter maintenance services across the highway network.
• Salt and grit roads in preparation for cold/icy conditions.
• Assist with snow clearance when required.
• Drive assigned winter maintenance routes safely and efficiently.
• Complete and report daily vehicle checks.
• Adhere to health, safety and quality standards; ensure work is correct first time.
• Follow fleet movement procedures at the depot.
• Help keep the highway safe for all road users.
