Job summary

Amey in Leek, Staffordshire, is seeking a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Staffordshire Account at the Leek Depot (ST13 7AB). The role is onsite and covers Staffordshire with a competitive salary and overtime opportunities.

Core duties include patching, kerbing, drainage maintenance, and site supervision. You will participate in briefings, maintain records, and liaise with clients and services. A full UK driving licence is required; Class 2 HGV is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Class 2 HGV (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with general and specialized skills.
• Participate in standby rotations for incident response, winter maintenance, gritting and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resources using the allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and complete paperwork, liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients and customers.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a p ermanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic Staffordshire Account at our Leek Depot (ST13 7AB). This role will be carried out onsite and around Stafford.

This position offers a competitive salary and overtime.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
