Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join the Leek Depot team. The role is onsite across Staffordshire, with responsibilities including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement and drainage maintenance.

The successful candidate will attend work briefings, operate vehicles and plant equipment, and participate in 24hr standby rotations in summer and winter. A competitive salary and overtime are offered, with clear career growth paths.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• A full UK driving license.
• Class 2 HGV (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend briefings and receive instructions on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations in summer and winter for incident response and gritting.
• Allocate and track time and resources using the allocated system.
• Maintain records and complete paperwork, liaising with Amey staff, subcontractors, emergency services, police, clients and customers.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic Staffordshire Account at our Leek Depot (ST13 7AB). This role will be carried out onsite and around Stafford.

This position offers a competitive salary and overtime.

What You’ll Do

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
