Job summary

Amey is offering a permanent role in Manchester for a Highways Maintenance Operative. The position is on-site at Tatton House with a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, and flexible working options including hybrid arrangements.

Responsibilities include patching, kerbing, drainage maintenance, and standby rotations for winter and incident response. Applicants should have roads experience and a UK driving licence; Class 2 HGV is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• HGV (Class 2) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance tasks including carriageway/footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend briefings to receive instructions on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with general and specialised skills.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations for incident response, winter maintenance, gritting, and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resource usage according to the allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and complete paperwork, liaising with Amey staff, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients and customers.
