Job summary

Bolton Council is seeking an Apprentice Highways Operative to join a dedicated highways team. You will learn through practical on-the-job training alongside theoretical study, assisting with drainage, road repair, and street lighting projects.

You will undertake a Level 2 Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Apprenticeship, travel to Salford College weekly, and aim to attain GCSEs in Maths and English if not already held.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit for heavy lifting and long standing.
• Able to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Ability to manage own time and complete paperwork on deadlines.
• Willing to undertake Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced operatives in highway and street lighting work.
• Set out and work to precise levels in drainage, brickwork and concrete tasks.
• Support in drain laying, trenching, shuttering and manhole construction.
