Job summary

Bolton Council seeks an enthusiastic Apprentice Career Grade Engineer to learn the trade and start a rewarding civil engineering career. You will rotate through highways, drainage, bridges and traffic management, gaining hands-on experience under experienced colleagues.

No prior experience required; you will obtain a Full UK Driving Licence and complete a Level 3 qualification by September 2026, with development through on‑the‑job training and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role ideal for a college leaver or someone on a Level 3 apprenticeship.
• Role focuses on learning civil engineering and construction site supervision.
• You will rotate through teams to gain experience in bridges, highways, drainage and traffic management.

Responsibilities

• Learn on the job while supporting asset management and project delivery.
• Assist with feasibility studies, designs and contract documentation.
• Help supervise contractors and learn inspection and maintenance of highways assets.
