Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places is hiring a Licence & Enforcement Officer in East Sussex on a 9 month fixed-term contract. You will oversee licence compliance, manage enforcement actions, and engage with contractors and authorities to keep highways safe and efficient.

Role focuses on maintaining records, improving processes, and representing the company at forums. Strong communication, organisation, and knowledge of highways legislation are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with works management systems and MS Office
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently or as part of a team
• Proactive approach with focus on continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with highways legislation and enforcement requirements
• Carry out site visits and monitor licence conditions
• Liaise with applicants, contractors and stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records of licence and enforcement activity in systems
• Support development and improvement of processes and policies
• Take enforcement action in line with procedures and legislation
• Build relationships with customers and local representatives
• Represent Balfour Beatty at local/regional forums
• Stay updated with industry developments and share best practices
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the service
