Highways Environmental Technician – Preventative

Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting a Technician to join the Environmental & Preventative Team, focusing on highway-related tasks such as road markings, drainage maintenance and traffic signage. The role involves on-site inspections, surveys and preparing packages of works.

You will use relevant software to create maps and information, support surface dressing design, and coordinate repairs while travelling around the county as needed.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 or equivalent (BTEC Civil Engineering or A-Levels in relevant subjects) with extensive demonstrable experience OR equivalent skills.
• Experience capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet needs.
• Experience using IT in a design/business environment including Microsoft Office; able to interpret maps/plans/drawings and provide technical input.

Responsibilities

• Carry out on-site inspections and surveys.
• Produce packages of works and order repairs to the network.
• Support surface dressing design and produce maps/info using relevant software.
• Liaise with team members and travel to locations across the county as required.
• Potential lone-working and occasional out-of-hours work.
