Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is hiring a Development Approvals Technician to support the Infrastructure Planning Team in the Environment and Transport Department. You will handle technical admin for highway adoption processes, manage records and financials, and provide guidance on designs to meet the Highway Design Guide.

On-the-job training will be provided. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 or equivalent, e.g. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels in relevant subjects.
• Experience in engineering settings or highway-related processes.
• Knowledge of planning policy, highway design standards, asset management or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical administration support to the Development Approvals team.
• Maintain data and records in systems and manage financial processes.
• Handle highway adoption enquiries from various sources and liaise with councils and the public.
• Provide technical advice on minor adoptable highway infrastructure under high-ways act sections 38/184/278.
• Ensure submitted designs comply with Leicestershire Highway Design Guide; receive on-the-job training.
• Manage own workload and work to deadlines, with effective communication and stakeholder liaison.
