Job summary

Amey Consulting – Civil Engineer is seeking a permanent Highways Engineer in Liverpool to join our Design and Development team. You will support senior engineers, lead junior engineers, and deliver highway projects from junction improvements to new roads and bridges.

Qualifications

• A Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Relevant experience in highway engineering, particularly local roads and S278 layouts.
• Ability to work in a commercial and customer-focused way which achieves programme, meets performance targets and generates income.
• Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff.
• A good understanding of Manual for Streets, DMRB, other national standards, best practice guidance, local standards etc.
• A good understanding of the CDM regulations and their relevance to highway design.
• The ability to support the preparation of briefs for fee quotes for delivery of services when required.
• Can deliver on time, within budget and to the quality required.
• Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with relevant standards and client requirements, supervising junior staff.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for scheme deliverables within quality, cost and schedule constraints.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level and attend progress meetings.
• Manage a small, locally based single-discipline technical team and deliver workload.
• Contribute to bids and the general work winning function.
• Work on site, on a visiting basis or in a full-time but temporary role, including out of hours work.
