Job summary

Kier Group in Basingstoke is seeking a dedicated Highways Engineer to join the local design team. You'll work on concept through to detailed design for a range of highway and infrastructure schemes, contributing to innovative solutions and community impact.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng), Chartered or working towards, and experience in highways geometry, drainage, and pavement design. A full driving licence and CSCS/SMSTS are desirable.

Qualifications

University degree in Civil/Highways/Transportation required.
Chartered or working towards chartered/eng status with ICE/CIHT/IHE.
Knowledge of highways geometry, pavement design, signs & road markings, drainage, and VRS.
Full driving licence held.
CSCS Card, SMSTS or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Feasibility, preliminary and detailed design of highway maintenance and improvement schemes to DMRB and local authority standards using AutoCAD.
Collaborate with other design disciplines in Common Data Environments and learn on the job.
Develop engineering options with safety, reliability and environmental considerations.
Provide design support and prepare drawings, specifications and calculations.
Undertake site visits, surveys, and meetings with clients as needed.
