Job summary

Norse Highways, a division of Norse Group, is recruiting an Area Supervisor to lead highways maintenance operations in Norfolk. The role focuses on workforce performance, safety culture, compliance, and delivering high-quality highway work with a strong emphasis on planning, efficiency, and client expectations.

The successful candidate will oversee operatives, conduct site visits, ensure safety standards, and drive continuous improvement while supporting contractual KPI targets.

Qualifications

• Requires a full driving licence.
• Experience supervising highways maintenance operations.
• Strong understanding of highways legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of NRSWA, Chapter 8, CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
• Excellent communication skills.
• NRSWA - essential.
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).

Responsibilities

• Monitor productivity and operational performance against KPIs.
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess operational effectiveness and workforce capability.
• Manage operatives' deployment to maximise site-based productivity and minimise non-productive time.
• Resolve operational issues promptly to minimise disruption and maintain service delivery.
• Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example in health, safety and wellbeing matters.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act requirements, CDM Regulations, NRSWA, Chapter 8, and other legislation.
• Monitor compliance with contractual standards, client specifications, and company procedures.
• Undertake quality inspections to ensure works meet required standards.
• Recognise and promote best practice across operational teams.
• Support the achievement of contractual KPI and service level targets.
• You will be part of the Winter Duty Officer Rota.
• You will be part of the OOH's Duty officer rota.
