The company

Contributing to a significant amount of the UK’s highways services, this company specialises in providing highways maintenance and management services to both public and private sector clients. In addition to highways maintenance, they cover network management, emergency response services, and traffic management. They have a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and innovation, which enables them to deliver services and large-scale, complex projects in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

Your new role

The Highways Maintenance Supervisor will play a critical role in the management and oversee the highway maintenance operations within the field of highway engineering. This role will ensure the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of highways, roads, and related infrastructure.

Your role will involve but won’t be limited to

  • Heavily involved in all aspects of Planned Maintenance, from condition surveys and programme development through to site supervision of major resurfacing or repaving projects.
  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team by offer ongoing support.
  • Be expected to carry out consultations, liaise with external and internal stakeholders, whilst working as part of a team and assisting the Service Manager on developing Maintenance policies
  • Responsible for the overall Planned Maintenance budget management and report on this on a monthly basis to the Service Manager.

  • You will have a qualification in Civil Engineering and/or several years’ experience working in the Highways industry.
  • Must hold a UK drivers licence
  • Must hold a SMSTS card
  • Strong understanding of NRSWA and certificate.
  • You will also have excellent written and communication skills as well as good time and budgetary management skills.
  • Keen problem solver with the ability to work within a complex system and find simple solutions and outcomes that deliver real change.
