Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Highway Engineer to delivery the Highways Maintenance service in Hampshire. Working to the Principal Engineer you’ll support depot management to develop a team of Assistant Highway Engineers and Technicians to deliver highway maintenance and enforcement operations.

You’ll need a sound understanding of highway maintenance practices and legislation, traffic management and CDM, with strong communication and a willingness to travel and work out of hours.

Qualifications

• Understanding of highway maintenance practices and legislation.
• Knowledge of construction methodologies and CDM.
• Experience with traffic management and highway safety.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel and work out of hours.

Responsibilities

• Support depot management to lead Assistant Highway Engineers and Technicians.
• Assist with highway maintenance and enforcement operations.
• Collaborate with elected Members, Districts, parishes and the public.
• Deliver service improvements with internal and external partners.
• Provide training and mentoring to junior staff.
