Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a Highway Inspector, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £238.85 - £315.87 per Day

Summary:

In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting highway assets to ensure public safety, issuing and checking repair work, and maintaining records in line with legal and safety standards. This role includes participating in an on-call rota and responding to emergencies, including winter maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct highway inspections in line with legislation (Highways Act 1980, NRSWA 1991).
• Identify and record defects across highways, footways, and associated assets.
• Raise, monitor, and validate work orders for routine and emergency repairs.
• Investigate public reports and complaints and take appropriate action.
• Support inspection programmes and manage records using handheld devices.

Qualifications:

• City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Highway Safety Inspections.

Experience Required:

• Knowledge of safety implications and requirements when working on highways, including Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
• Proven experience identifying and describing highway defects.

Essential Criteria:

• A valid UK driving licence.
