Job summary

AECOM in Cardiff is offering an apprenticeship in highway design within our highways team. You will assist with highway design drawings and supporting documentation, using CAD, Civil 3D and BIM tools on real projects.

Ideal candidates are school leavers with three A-Levels (or equivalent, such as BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering) including Mathematics and a physical science, and a keen interest in civil and transport engineering.

Qualifications

• Three A-Levels (or equivalent, such as BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering) including Mathematics and a physical science.
• Interest in civil and transport engineering and willingness to learn on the job.
• Aptitude for technical drawing and engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of highway design drawings, plans, details, and supporting technical documentation using CAD and design software.
• Support the development and delivery of highway schemes from feasibility through to detailed design.
• Assist with the design of roads, junctions, pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, and highway elements.
• Support the preparation and development of highway layouts in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.
• Assist with site visits, surveys, and collection of information to support design and assessment.
