Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Raunds for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). You will lead lessons, run small group interventions, and support pupils to achieve strong academic progress within an inclusive setting.

Ideal candidates will hold an HLTA qualification or equivalent school experience, with a track record in primary education and strong behaviour management. DBS checks and safeguarding awareness are essential.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and wellbeing and support safeguarding practices.

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Mountbatten Way, Raunds
Salary: Pay to scale (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-time / Term-Time Only


We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school located on Mountbatten Way, Raunds, for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or a confident Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in their career, supporting pupils to achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.


Your role will involve supporting teaching and learning across the school, leading small group interventions, and delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher. Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and senior leaders, you will play a key role in helping pupils make excellent academic and personal progress.


As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), your responsibilities will include:


  • Supporting the delivery of engaging and high-quality lessons across the primary age range

  • Leading small group interventions and providing targeted support to pupils

  • Delivering planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher

  • Supporting pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, SENCOs, and senior leaders

  • Monitoring and supporting pupils' progress and wellbeing

  • Following all safeguarding and school policies and procedures


We are looking for candidates who:


  • Hold an HLTA qualification or have equivalent school-based experience

  • Have experience working within a primary school setting

  • Are confident leading whole-class learning and small group interventions

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • Have a proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting children's learning

  • Are committed to raising pupil attainment and promoting positive outcomes

  • Are passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
