Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Basingstoke for a permanent, full-time post starting from September 2026. The successful candidate will support teaching and learning across the school, deliver targeted interventions, and lead whole-class sessions when required.

The role requires HLTA status or equivalent qualification, prior experience in a primary setting, and strong communication and organisational skills.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Permanent, Full Time

Basingstoke | Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly and supportive Junior school on a permanent, full time basis starting from September 2026.

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering high-quality interventions, leading whole class learning when required, and working closely with teachers to help every child achieve their full potential.

The school would also consider an educator who is interested in gaining the HLTA qualification and has previous experience in education.

Pay: £110 a day

We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds HLTA status (or equivalent qualification)
  • Has previous experience working in a primary school setting – essential
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Is confident leading groups and whole-class sessions when needed
  • Shows initiative, flexibility, and a positive, child-centred approach
  • Works well as part of a collaborative team
Applicants should have:
  • Knowledge of KS1 or KS2 curriculum
  • An enhanced child only DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
  • Relevant contact references
  • An up to date CV outlining 10 year’s career history and education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
