Job summary

Rushey Mead Primary School in the East Midlands is inviting applications for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4). The post runs Autumn Term 2026, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm, 35 hours per week term time plus 5 INSET days.

The successful candidate will deliver planned class cover across year groups, work with teachers and HLTA colleagues, and support pupil progress with high expectations. A Level 4 TA qualification is required, with enthusiasm, adaptability and a collaborative

  • Hold a Level 4 TA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Be confident delivering planned cover across year groups.
  • Work effectively as part of a team of HLTAs, teachers and support staff.
  • Demonstrate high expectations for pupils’ achievement and behaviour.
  • Show creativity, adaptability and a positive sense of humour.
  • Have a secure understanding of the Early Years Framework and/or National Curriculum.
  • Be committed to continuous professional development and inclusive practice.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4)

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)Start date: Autumn Term 2026Hours: Monday–Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm35 hours per week, Term Time + 5 INSET (Teacher) DaysRushey Mead Primary School is seeking a highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our established HLTA team. This role will involve a significant amount of planned class cover, alongside collaborative work supporting teaching and learning across the school.This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and experienced practitioner who is an effective communicator, demonstrates initiative and flexibility, and enjoys working as part of a supportive and professional team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 4 TA qualification (or equivalent)

Salary:Local Government Band 7, Points 19–22£35,412 – £38,220 FTEPro rata: £28,909 – £31,202Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged.
