Job summary

St Andrew's Academy in Derby is seeking a passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our specialist school community at St Andrew's View, Breadsall Hilltop. The role supports learning across Key Stage 3 and 4, with some 16–19 provision, working closely with teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and an inclusive, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• An experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA with a strong understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.
• Ability to lead learning and work independently when required.
• Able to build strong, positive relationships with students.
• Calm, patient and resilient in approach.
• Strong communicator within a multidisciplinary team.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside teaching staff to deliver high-quality learning and support for students.
• Lead learning activities and classes when required, following planning and curriculum objectives.
• Provide targeted support for students with additional and complex needs.
• Support students to develop academic, social, emotional and life skills.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and participate in the school community.
