Job summary

Gumtree is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Milton Keynes seeking a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. The HLTA will deliver planned lessons, support across year groups, and provide targeted interventions to help pupils reach their potential.

Must have an HLTA qualification or equivalent experience, strong classroom practice, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
Confidence delivering lessons across different year groups.
Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective classroom practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive, adaptable and positive approach to supporting teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

Deliver planned lessons to whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
Support teaching and learning across a range of year groups.
Work with individual pupils and small groups to provide targeted intervention and raise attainment.
Assist with planning, preparing, and adapting learning activities to meet pupils' needs.
Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
