Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an experienced HLTA in the Darlington area for flexible, long-term and permanent opportunities. You will support learning across primary, secondary and SEND settings and lead planned lessons when the class teacher is away.

You are confident with pupils of varying needs, passionate about helping children grow in confidence, and ready to take on classroom leadership responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or significant TA experience required.
• Confident leading whole-class learning when needed.
• Builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Organised and adaptable, willing to muck in wherever needed.
• Clear communication and team player.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned lessons when the class teacher is away.
• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, creative learning.
• Help children with learning, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Monitor progress and share feedback with teaching staff.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom where every pupil feels supported.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and help maintain a safe learning environment.

We're working with a range of welcoming primary, secondary and SEND schools in Darlington and surrounding areas that are looking for confident, caring Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support learning and make a real difference every day.

What you'll be doing

No two days are ever the same, but you can expect to:

• Lead planned lessons when the class teacher is away
• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, creative learning
• Help children with a range of learning, social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Monitor progress and share feedback with teaching staff
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom where every pupil feels supported
• Follow safeguarding procedures and help maintain a safe learning environment

We're looking for someone who:

• Has HLTA status or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant

• Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
• Wants to help children grow in confidence and achieve their best
