Job summary

GAC Education seeks an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for roles across Hull and the East Riding. You will lead lessons, provide targeted interventions, and support safeguarding and behaviour strategies in busy classrooms.

The position offers full-time block bookings, with flexible supply patterns and local placement options, under UK safeguarding regulations and DBS checks.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or substantial experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools.
  • Strong classroom management and experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs (ASC, SEMH, ADHD).
  • Enhanced DBS check on Update Service or willingness to obtain on onboarding.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and KCSIE guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering whole-class lessons and PPA cover per national curriculum.
  • Leading 1:1 and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy and emotional regulation.
  • Implementing positive behaviour support, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Assessing progress, recording outcomes, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Upholding safeguarding standards in line with school policies.

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Hull, East Yorkshire

Pay Rate: £105 - £125 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term Placements & Flexible Supply

Are you a status-qualified or highly experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for rewarding classroom leadership opportunities across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire?

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering whole-class lessons and PPA cover in accordance with national curriculum expectations and adapted provision maps.
  • Leading targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation for pupils with EHCPs.
  • Implementing positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practices across diverse classroom environments.
  • Assessing student progress, recording outcomes, and providing constructive feedback to class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Upholding robust safeguarding standards in strict compliance with school child protection policies.
Candidate Requirements
  • Recognised HLTA Status (or substantial, verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools).
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs (including ASC, SEMH, and ADHD).
  • An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during onboarding).
  • Thorough practical understanding of statutory safeguarding principles and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with the confidence to manage different year groups and educational settings seamlessly.
